Reported Liverpool target Igor Gomes says Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne is the best midfielder in the world as he looks to emulate the midfielder, Globo Esporte report.

The Sao Paulo youngster is regarded as one of Brazil’s top prospects.

According to a report by Esporte Interativo, Ajax are keen on the player while Liverpool have opened talks with his representatives over a potential move.

The Reds have dominated the Premier League this season. Yet, manager Jurgen Klopp will have one eye on the future with Gomes a potential future superstar.

Speaking to reporters, the youngster plots to emulate Kevin De Bruyne.

“We see the great teams, the best players, are very complete. They can help in the defensive, offensive part, distribute the game. Today, in my position, the most complete guy is De Bruyne. He helps in defence, scores goals, assists, controls the game, dictates how the match should go. I try to look at this in the players and implement it,” Gomes explained.

De Bruyne has been an incredible figure for City over the past three seasons.

But Liverpool have toppled Pep Guardiola’s side in the Premier League this year. The Reds will seal the title, it is now only a matter of when.

Klopp, however, won’t allow his side to rest on their laurels. The midfield could certainly do with further depth, while Naby Keita has yet to get going.

Gomes, 21, has been capped by Brazil’s U23 side. He appears ready for a switch to Europe, while Liverpool’s recent record with Brazilians isn’t too shabby at all.
