West Ham United should challenge Liverpool for the Besiktas ace’s signature this summer.
According to a report from Turkish media outlet Fanatik, Liverpool are lining up a summer swoop for Besiktas defender Domagoj Vida, and West Ham should challenge them for his signature.
The Hammers have already brought Issa Diop into the club this summer, but with James Collins’ exit, Winston Reid’s injury problems and Angelo Ogbonna’s future at the London Stadium uncertain to say the least, the addition of another centre-back will surely feature highly on Manuel Pellegrini’s wish-list.
Italian media outlet Gonfialerete claimed yesterday that Napoli are interested in signing Ogbonna, and if the Italian does end up leaving West Ham, Vida would be the ideal replacement.

The 29-year-old Croatian is extensively experienced, and plays with a certain kind of tenacity and aggression that makes him ideally suited to the robust nature of the Premier League.
Vida is a top quality defender who relishes a physical battle, and the 63 caps that he has earned for his country serve as evidence of his quality.
According to Turkish publication Fanatik, Besiktas value the centre-back at €35 million (£31 million), but whether the Hammers will be prepared to pay that amount is debatable.
He would undoubtedly improve West Ham’s defence, however, so bringing him to the London Stadium for that amount might just turn out to be good business in the end.
