Leicester City target Otavio is not interested in joining Copa Libertadores winners Palmeiras and will only leave Porto for another major European league, as reported by O Jogo.

While the Foxes are not exactly lacking in the creativity department, with James Maddison, Youri Tielemens and Harvey Barnes blossoming into some of the Premier League’s most feared performers, Otavio feels like a player tailor-made for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

The all-action Brazilian is as tenacious as he is technically gifted.

Otavio fired Porto to the Primeira Liga title with 15 assists in 2020/21 – a tally bettered by his number of yellow cards (16).

And, with his contract expiring in July, the Portuguese champions are facing up to the departure of their tough-tackling, defence-splitting dynamo.

Leicester have joined AC Milan in the race for Otavio’s signature, with the former Internacional ace demanding a £50,000-a-week deal at his next club (TMW).

With that in mind, O Jogo’s most recent claims will be music to the ears of Leicester and Milan.

Otavio, first and foremost, wants to stay in Europe.

In fact, he would jump at the chance to test himself in a more competitive division than the Portuguese top-flight. That certainly bodes well for clubs in the Premier League and Serie A.

What’s more, Otavio has no interest in joining Vancouver Whitecaps in the MLS, or a Palmeiras outfit who defeated Santos in the Copa Libertadores final last week.

O Jogo adds that Otavio is increasingly unlikely to sign fresh terms at the Estadio do Dragao.

Leicester, then, should have all the encouragement they need.
