Ayala is out of contract at Middlesbrough on June 30, and the Spanish defender has been linked with a move to Leeds on a free transfer this summer.
The Daily Star reported in March that the Whites want to secure the services of the 29-year-old central defender in the summer transfer window.
The Daily Mail has reported that Ayala has told Middlesbrough manager Jonathan Woodgate that he will leave the club at the end of the month when his current contract runs out instead of staying to finish the season, as Boro aim to avoid the drop to League One.
The report has added that Leeds have shown an interest in the former Liverpool man.
Ayala’s wife, Hannah Ayala, has given her reaction on Instagram, saying that the truth will come out soon, as shown below.
Good signing for Leeds United?
Ayala is a very good and strong central defender who has been a success in the Championship and has also played in the Premier League.
The Spaniard would be a good signing for Leeds, especially on a free transfer, and would give head coach Marcelo Bielsa more options at the back next season.

Meanwhile, according to Kicker, Leeds will have to pay RB Leipzig another €21 million (£18.79 million) to sign Jean-Kevin Augustin on a permanent contract in the summer transfer window, but only if they are promoted to the Premier League.
Augustin joined Leeds on loan from Leipzig in the January transfer window, with Kicker reporting that the Whites have had to pay a loan fee of €4 million (£3.58 million).
