Leeds United are reported to be eyeing up a move for Amiens winger Moussa Konate before the transfer deadline.
According to the Daily Mirror’s printed edition (Wednesday 8th August, page 51) Leeds are planning a £6 million move, shortly after L’Equipe reported their interest.
Konate has been linked in the past with Newcastle, Tottenham and West Ham but no Premier League side has taken the plunge.
Leeds stand a chance of tempting him, as Konate’s wages are remarkably low.
French website Courier Piccard report Konate is Amiens’ highest earner – on ‘just’ 40,000 Euros per month.
This equates to as little as £8,200 per week, a salary Leeds would have no trouble matching and bettering.
This is a rare case where Leeds have the financial power to sign a top player and blow his current side out the water with regard to his earnings.
The Senegal international scored 10 goals in 27 Ligue 1 games for Amiens last season.
