Leeds United are reportedly keen to raid Championship rivals Nottingham Forest for Tunisian centre-back Yohan Benalouane this summer.
Yohan Benalouane has only been a Nottingham Forest player for two months but it seems that he is already happy and settled at the City Ground, speaking to the club’s official website.
The Tunisian centre-back joined on an 18-month deal from Leicester City and has impressed in the famous red shirt, establishing himself as a cult hero by scoring the winner in February’s victory over bitter rivals Derby County.
Foot Mercato report that Championship rivals Leeds United have been impressed by Benalouane’s performances over the last eight weeks and were planning to lure the 31-year-old to Elland Road when the campaign comes to an end.
But luring Benalouane away from Nottingham Forest could be easier said than done. He certainly doesn’t seem to be angling for a summer move.
“Wow. The stadium is always full and when we go away the fans are always there. I am so proud to play for this team,” said the veteran, who joined Leicester for £5.6 million in 2015 (talkSPORT).
“I am proud to be here, I am happy and I want to go up with this club.
“I feel that this is what the supporters want and when they all come here to the City Ground, you can feel it. For us, this is amazing and I am really enjoying my life here.”
If it is passionate supporters and a family feel that Benalouane wants, he would surely feel very much at home as a Leeds player too.
But even if Marcelo Bielsa’s side are promoted to the Premier League, it seems that this man mountain of a centre-back is happy to commit his future to Forest for the next year at the very least.
