Cyle Larin could well be a man in demand in the coming weeks and months – and Leeds must ensure they are at the front of the queue.
Canada international Cyle Larin has interested Leeds United in recent months – as reported by the print edition of The Sun on Sunday, September 10 – and a switch could now move a step closer after MLS’s regular season concluded at the weekend.
Orlando City’s Larin has consistently been linked with big-money transfers and, having netted 43 goals in three seasons for a hit-and-miss side, he could be set to finally land a deal in Europe.
That appears to be what the forward wants anyway, as he told the Orlando Sentinel.
“I think I’m at the right place to go play in Europe and it’s the right time,” he said.
These comments will surely kick-start a bidding war and Leeds, desperate to keep their promotion bid on track, should spend the money to secure a proven goalscorer.
Indeed, it looks as though it may be now or never for Leeds if they are to sign Larin as he added that he aspires to reach the top of the European game – “I’m ready to challenge myself and play at the highest possible level I can” – and so the Championship side must surely secure promotion or risk missing out.
Larin looks to have the talent to both inspire a promotion push and to score in the Premier League, making him a potentially vital piece of business for Thomas Christiansen’s side.
If he forces a move in January, Leeds must ensure they are at the front of the queue.
