Reported Leeds United target Erick Pulgar is concerned about his lack of regular starts at Fiorentina and now has a £10 million bid from Valencia on the table, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

How quickly things change in this most fickle of games.

Last season, Pulgar was the driving force of this Fiorentina team; his tally of seven goals and six assists only bettered by his eye-watering yellow card count (nine).

The Chile international had proved himself to be a brilliantly influential midfielder at the top level, an Arturo Vidal-esque enforcer capable of making the difference at both ends of the pitch.

These days, he is spending most of his time on the bench.

Pulgar has started just five of Fiorentina’s 19 Serie A matches in 2020/21 and has found game-time hard to come by since former Italy coach Cesare Prandelli returned for a second spell at the Stadio Artemio Franchi in the Autumn.

The former Bologna dynamo has, understandably, received plenty of offers from clubs willing to give him a fresh start.

One of those is Leeds United.

La Nazione reports that Marcelo Bielsa is keen to raid Fiorentina for not just Pulgar but also the powerhouse striker Christian Kouame.

Underperforming Spanish giants Valencia, meanwhile, have made a loan bid with a £10 million obligation-to-buy clause.

Fiorentina would prefer to keep Pulgar until the summer but, with the man himself concerned that a lack of minutes will impact his role for the Chilean national team, there could still be some movement before Monday’s transfer deadline.
