Valere Germain has played his final game for Marseille with the reported Everton target set to leave the Ligue 1 giants on a free transfer, as reported by RMC Sport.
Michael Owen once claimed that Emile Heskey was among his favourite strike partners and we would imagine that Kylian Mbappe feels the same about Valere Germain.
The 31-year-old forward is not the most prolific of attackers but his unselfish movement, terrific work-rate and eye-catching hold up play made Germain the perfect foil for a fresh-faced Mbappe during Monaco’s title-winning 2016/17 campaign.
Anyone who knows the game understands the veteran’s subtle skill-set with Karim Benzema also a paid-up member of the Germain fan club.
So if the Marseille-born striker does make the move to Everton from his hometown club, Toffees fans should not merely glance at his modest goals tally and turn their noses towards the Merseyside sky.
L’Equipe reported in March that Germain has admirers at Goodison Park and it is not hard to imagine the experienced number nine striking up a fine understanding with the likes of Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and James Rodriguez.

The former France U21 international has also been linked with clubs in Spain, Italy and Germany. And, according to RMC, he has already played his final game in Marseille colours.
Germain will be left out of the squad for this weekend’s Ligue 1 clash with Metz, having fallen out of favour since Jorge Sampaoli replaced Andre Villas-Boas as the Velodrome.
“I don’t want to stop (playing), I want to start again with a great project. It was a great experience in Marseille, I really enjoyed it and we’ll see what the future holds for me,” Germain said recently, admitting that he is keen to try something new after spending his entire career in France.
“I hope to discover a foreign (league) because it would be a beautiful experience. Discovering a new championship… I think it can be interesting for me and my family.”
