Everton boss Marco Silva is said to be keen to bring in Diego Costa this summer, but he once nearly went to Liverpool.

Everton transfer target Diego Costa once admitted that he almost signed for Liverpool earlier in his career.
However, things could have been very different if Costa had decided to join Liverpool in 2013.
Liverpool activated Costa’s release clause six years ago, and the Brazilian-born forward has admitted that he was close to leaving for Anfield.
“I was close to leaving Atletico,” the high profile Everton target once said to the Daily Mirror.
“Liverpool are a great team, but after fighting so hard and overcoming difficulties to get my place at Atletico, how could I leave?”
If Everton were to sign Costa it would be a signal of intent from Silva’s side.
Costa has previously been a huge threat in the Premier League when with Chelsea, and he would surely increase Everton’s goalscoring options.

The Toffees lacked a clinical finisher last term, but Costa could fill that void.
The Atletico Madrid forward would be a rather different type of player to what Everton have tended to target under Marcel Brands and Silva so far though.
The Toffees have looked to reduce the age of their squad, so would have to make an exception to bring in Costa, who is now 30.
