Merseyside and Premier League rivals Everton and Liverpool both reportedly want Sporting Lisbon’s midfield talisman Bruno Fernandes.
Bruno Fernandes has admitted that he is ready for a move to the Premier League at the end of another outstanding season with Sporting Lisbon, speaking to Sport TV.
The Portugal international is currently the captain of the Primeira Liga giants and his statistics have to be seen to be believed. In all competitions, Fernandes has scored 28 goals and provided 15 assists – not bad for a central midfielder.
So it should be no surprise that clubs are lining up to take the former Udinese playmaker away from the Estadio Jose Alvalade. The Mirror claimed recently that Liverpool are keen on a player who could fill the creative void left by Philippe Coutinho while Everton have also been linked with a £36 million move by ZeroZero.
And should the Merseyside giants make a move this summer, they could be in luck.
Speaking to Sport TV, as translated by the Manchester Evening News, Fernandes has made it clear that he feels ready for a big-money move away from his homeland with the Premier League a potential destination.
“Last year, I received approaches, mainly from England and also from Spain, but I did not feel prepared to go.” Fernandes said. “Not because of difficulty, but for the high number of games in England.
“My debut season at Sporting was the first time I played so many games, I thought I needed one more with that regularity. Now I feel prepared for this requirement, if I ever have to play in England.”
Given that Sporting are a little strapped for cash, they may be forced to cash in on their star man with ZeroZero adding that they would consider a bid well short of Fernandes’ £90 million release clause.
