Newcastle United are reportedly keen on signing the midfield duo.

Newcastle performed admirably last season, and eventually ended up in 10th position in the Premier League table, but Rafa Benitez has his work cut out, if he is to guide them into contention for the European places this season.

One particular area where the Spaniard is desperate to improve is his central midfield department, with more competition required for the likes of Jonjo Shelvey and Mohamed Diame.

Newcastle have already been linked with exciting moves for Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere (the Chronicle) and Stoke City’s Badou Ndiaye (Daily Mail), and if Rafa manages to secure deals for the midfield duo, the pair would totally transform the axis of the Magpies’ engine room.

Jack Wilshere of Arsenal is closed down by Tiemoue Bakayoko of Chelsea during the Carabao Cup Semi-Final Second Leg at Emirates Stadium on January 24, 2018 in London, England.

The two players have such contrasting styles that they would perfectly compliment one another, and their respective arrivals on Tyneside would surely take the Toon to an entirely new level.

Wilshere, 26, is a wonderful talent, and despite the injury problems he has endured during his time in the game, he still has a lot to offer at the every highest level.

He is cool and composed when in position, possesses magnificent technical ability, and would be able to dictate the tempo of the game from the base of Newcastle’s midfield.

Ndiaye, meanwhile, is more of a powerful specimen, with his high energy levels enabling him to fulfil the box-to-box role.

He is tenacious in the tackle, and plays with 100 per cent commitment and drive for the entire 90 minutes.

Newcastle are an ambitious club, and if Rafa manages to bring both Wilshere and NDiaye to St James’ Park this summer, the sky really will be the limit for the Toon.
