Could reported Aston Villa targets Said Benrahma & Jean-Kévin Augustin be heading to the newly-promoted Premier League side?
Aston Villa could be in the market for two more deals before deadline day as they look to bulk up their attacking line ahead of a return to the Premier League.
The Express recently claimed that Brentford winger Said Benrahma will join Villa, whilst Sky Sports are reporting that the newly-promoted side are a number of clubs keen on RB Leipzig striker Jean-Kevin Augustin.
If Villa can secure the signatures of both those players before Thursday’s cut-off point then they would be the 13th and 14th players the club has signed this window.
Added with that, it would seal a stunning transfer window for Villa and one of the most remarkable summers the club has ever seen.
Whilst Dean Smith would be happy with the squad he has at his disposal, both Benrahma and Augustin are needed because Villa need that depth in the attacking third.
Both players have talent in abundance in their locker, with Benrahma wowing one and all in the Championship last season, whilst Augustin struggled in front of goal in Germany’s top-flight as he netted three goals.
Despite the 22-year-old failing to deliver the goods, Smith clearly thinks he can unlock his talent and allow him to showcase it in his forward-thinking system.
RB Leipzig are arguably the third best club in Germany and they do play in Europe, so it would be a step down to Villa, but one that would perhaps help both the player and the club he could join.
In Benrahma’s case, he already knows Smith’s system having worked with him at Griffin Park, and given how Jota has started life at Villa, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Benrahma did the same if he were to make the switch.
