Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly tabled a bid for the Besiktas centre-back.
According to Turkish media outlet Aspor, Tottenham have made an €18 million (£15.9 million) offer for Besiktas centre-back Domagoj Vida, and it could be the beginnings of another masterstroke from Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.
Tottenham centre-back Toby Alderweireld has been heavily linked with an exit from north London this summer, with the Express claiming that Manchester United are prepared to pay around £50 million for the Belgium international’s signature.
The Lilywhites are demanding closer to £70 million for the defender, however, and if some kind of compromise can be reached between the two clubs, the north London outfit will be laughing all the way to the bank.

Vida has proved at this summer’s World Cup in Russia how good he is, and he would be more than an able-bodied replacement for Alderweireld at Tottenham.
The 29-year-old’s unique brand of no-nonsense defending seems to be ideally suited to the robust nature of the Premier League, and if nothing else, he would be a superb squad player for Mauricio Pochettino.
Whilst Spurs will surely not want to lose Alderweireld, the opportunity of selling him for somewhere in the region of £60 million, and bringing in a player of Vida’s quality for just under £16 million would surely be one that is too good to turn down.
And if it does happen, it could very well turn out to be the latest in a long line of Daniel Levy masterstrokes.
