Celtic have been linked with a loan move for another Manchester City prospect.
According to a recent report from the print edition of the Sun (April 23, 2017 page 61), Celtic are interested in bringing another young player in from Manchester City, this time in the form of 17-year-old Jadon Sancho.
While City have no desire to sell a player tipped for stardom at the Etihad Stadium, the Bhoys are said to be considering a loan move similar to the one that brought Patrick Roberts to Scotland.
The former Fulham sensation looks set to head back to City at the end of this season, leaving a space for Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers to fill, and in Sancho he could be signing an even better prospect than Roberts.
That is a bold statement given the latter’s talent and his impact at Celtic Park during his two-year loan stint, but Sancho is seen as one of the best teenage prospects City have produced thus far.
That is saying something considering City have an academy the envy of many, however Sancho is a goal-scoring left winger who can also operate on the opposite flank with great effect.
An England under-17 international with six goals in just nine appearances at that level, he previously netted six in seven for the Three Lions’ under-16s.
Celtic have completed good business with City in the past, but if he fulfils his potential Sancho could go down as the best of the bunch.
A similar two-year loan spell to the one Roberts previously agreed would be the best for all concerned, allowing the teenager time to settle in Scotland before making his mark.
