Burnley have confirmed the departure of Celtic and Newcastle United target Jeff Hendrick in their official website, with the Ireland international due to become a free agent on July 1.
A former Derby County ace might not be one of the most eye-catching midfielders in the Premier League but, with freebies and bargain buys likely to be the order of the day this summer, Hendrick has been inundated with some very eye-catching offers of late.
Does he take up a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join seven-time European champions AC Milan?
If he moves to Celtic instead, according to The Sun (24 June, page 51), Hendrick could make history north of the border.
After all, the Hoops are potentially just 11 months away from sealing a record tenth successive Scottish Premiership title.
Newcastle have been linked too.
And while the Magpies may be in the midst of mid-table mediocrity, like Burnley you might add, they will also become one of the richest football clubs on planet earth if that Saudi takeover finally goes through.

And, much to the frustration of Sean Dyche, who was hoping to keep an experienced operator around for the remainder of the season, the Clarets have now confirmed that Hendrick will be bidding farewell next week.
“Midfielder Jeff Hendrick is to leave Turf Moor to end his four-year stay with the Clarets after the club was unable to agree terms on a new deal with the Republic of Ireland international,” a statement read.
With 54 international caps, and over 100 Premier League appearances, Hendrick’s CV makes for impressive reading.
Maybe we should not be surprised by the level of interest in his signature after all.
