Curtis Nelson has joined Oxford United from Plymouth Argyle, despite reported interest from Rangers and Barnsley.

Barnsley and Rangers may have to consider alternative central defensive targets after Curtis Nelson moved clubs.
Both sides had been linked with moves for the 23-year-old (Plymouth Herald and Daily Express), however, the Tykes’ initial offer was deemed ‘derisory’ by the Pilgrims.
And the Plymouth Argyle captain has since signed a two-year deal with League One outfit Oxford United, while neither Barnsley or Rangers have filled their defensive voids in the meantime.
The Scottish giants have, however, taken United States international Oguchi Onyewu on trial, with a move for another target, Adrian Mariappa, said to have stalled (Daily Mail).

Nelson’s move is likely to hit Barnsley the hardest, with their defender, Alfie Mawson, recently attracting interest from Leeds United.
Nelson, who was out of contract but will command a fee either arranged by the two clubs or at a tribunal, had played just shy of 250 games for Plymouth and led them to the League Two play-off final last season.
Michael Appleton’s Oxford, who were promoted as runners-up last season, added Arsenal midfielder Dan Crowley, a former Barnsley loanee, to their squad on Friday.
