Aston Villa have been one of the busiest teams during this summer transfer window, as they are looking to make their mark following their promotion to the Premier League.

Aston Villa striker Wesley Moraes, who joined the club earlier on this summer, could see a familiar face walk through the doors of Bodymoor Heath in a few days time – or to be specific a training centre in the USA because that’s where Villa are currently preparing for pre-season.
The 22-year-old joined Villa from Belgian side Club Brugge, a team which is on the CV of Villa’s next potential signing Bjorn Engels.
French outlet L’Equipe have claimed that centre-back Engels, who currently plays in Ligue 1 for Remis, is close to being announced a Villa player and he has already travelled down to the Midlands for his medical.
Belgian reporter Kristof Terreur posted on his personal Twitter account, images of Wesley and Engels in action during their time at Club Brugge.
Engels played 97 games for Brugge during his time in Belgian’s top-tier, making his debut in 2012, whilst Wesley played130 matches, as he made his debut four years after the defender.

Considering both players will be in new surroundings, and unaware of most of those in the Villa dressing room, it will be good to see a familiar face because little things like that does help a player settle in off the field of play, and as a result, benefit them on the field.
Either way, if Engels does put pen-to-paper then he will play an important role for Dean Smith at the heart of Villa’s defence, who have shown serious ambition during this window.
Powerhouse Moraes will compete with the likes of Jonathan Kodjia, Scott Hogan and Keinan Davis for that starting spot, at this moment in time, but that could change with the transfer window still open.
As for Engels, he will compete against Tyrone Mings, Kortney Hause, Ezri Konsa and James Chester for a starting birth – with three of those players signing permanent contracts at the club this summer.
