Arsenal target Bruno Fuchs will go on to have a ‘spectacular career’ at the Emirates or elsewhere, fellow Internacional defender Victor Cuesta has told Esporte Interativo.

Technical director Edu returned to the Emirates last summer in the hope of bringing the glory days back to north London. But it’s fair to say a player who went down in history as part of Arsene Wenger’s ‘Invincibles’ has his work cut out in the boardroom.

Arsenal are desperate to claw their way back into the elite but they must do so on a shoestring budget.

Funds were tight even before the global health crisis, which threatens to cost the club a further £150 million according to claims from Goal.

Fortunately, Edu already has a track record when it comes to inspired bargain deals.

Gabriel Martinelli, the Brazilian wonderkid who has scored goals for fun during his debut season in England, is the ‘signing of the century’ – at least, in Jurgen Klopp’s eyes.

And if Arsenal can fight off competition from Ajax and AC Milan Martinelli will be joined at the Emirates by another Samba starlet – 21-year-old Fuchs.

According to MilanNews, Fuchs will cost around £4.5 million – making this a risk certainly worth taking.

“I think Bruno has a huge future ahead of him. I think if he continues to work this way, playing the same way, he will have a spectacular career. It is up to him to keep his feet on the ground,” the youngster’s centre-back partner Cuesta says.

“He knows what quality he has. Football today also requires other things. Be professional, take care, train hard. But he has a good head on his shoulders and I think he can do it. Without a doubt, he will be a national team player (for Brazil).”

A move to Arsenal, and the exposure that Premier League football brings, would surely put Fuchs in contention for a place in Brazil’s 2022 World Cup squad – especially if he can emulate Martinelli’s remarkable impact in England.
