Arsenal are reportedly keen admirers of the RB Leipzig ace, but Tottenham Hotspur should gatecrash the party.
Mauricio Pochettino will be looking to bolster his ranks at Tottenham in the summer, in the hope of guiding his side to their first league title success since 1961, and pipping Arsenal to one of their prime targets would be a great place to start.
One particular area where the Argentine will want to strengthen is his attacking department, with his side having become too reliant upon Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen to produce the goods on a regular basis.
With this in mind, Spurs should consider making a summer move for RB Leipzig winger Emil Forsberg, who is reportedly attracting attention from bitter rivals Arsenal.
Respected German football expert Raphael Honigstein told the Totally Football Show podcast how the Gunners are keen admirers of the Swede:
“Emil Forsberg has been in and out of the Leipzig team with injuries, and they’ve really missed him a lot. He is still a guy who really wants to go to the Premier League. He was very upset when Arsenal’s offer was turned down straight away by Leipzig. I think Arsenal will come back in for him because he has got a lot of talent.”
Forsberg joined Leipzig in January 2015, and has really impressed for the Bundesliga outfit, chipping in with 20 goals and 36 assists in 106 outings thus far.
He can play anywhere along the front-line, possesses pace in abundance and has a keen eye for a killer pass – all attributes that would undoubtedly improve Tottenham as a team.
The 26-year-old is valued at £22.5 million, according to Transfer Markt.
In today’s ludicrously inflated transfer market, that would represent excellent business, and should be an opportunity that Spurs grab with both hands.
