Cash-strapped Marseille have made selling Morgan Sanson and Boubacar Kamara a ‘priority’ this summer, according to Le10 Sport, with the transfer-listed Ligue 1 duo linked to the likes of Newcastle United, West Ham and Aston Villa.
It is not going to be a summer of smiles at the Stade Velodrome.
One of the biggest clubs in French football are under pressure to raise £100 million to avoid potential Financial Fair Play sanctions (Le10 Sport) – and that is before you consider the impact this ongoing global health crisis will have on their bank balance.
As a result, Marseille have no choice but to put two of their star performers on the market. Sanson and Kamara are perhaps the most coveted and valuable members of Andre Villas-Boas’s squad, so it is no surprise that they have been allegedly chosen to take on sacrificial lamb status.
Sanson, a technically gifted and tenacious central midfielder with seemingly endless energy reserves, recently joined forces with Pini Zahavi – an intermediary renowned for his ability to secure big-money moves for his clients.
Buzz Sport, meanwhile, claim that Premier League clubs are queuing up for Sanson with Everton, Villa, West Ham and Newcastle all interested in the £30 million-rated former Montpellier talisman.
Kamara, a £28 million centre-back likened to Brazil and PSG ace Thiago Silva, is one of a number of talented young defenders tipped to sign for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal (FootMercato).
And given that Marseille have made Kamara available for transfer, the Gunners might now be one step closer to landing William Saliba’s long-term partner.
