Brentford boss Thomas Frank has hailed the impact of Said Benrahma after the reported Arsenal and Newcastle United target scored a stunning hat-trick against Wigan Athletic on Saturday, speaking to WiganToday.
It is looking increasingly likely now that this fleet-footed Algerian international will be playing Premier League football next season – with or without Brentford.
Fortunately for Bees fans though, automatic promotion is a very real possibility as long as their talismanic number ten is producing match-winning performances of this ilk.
Benrahma took his tally to 14 Championship goals for the 2019/20 campaign when crisis-hit Wigan arrived at Griffin Park, fizzing two brilliant efforts into the bottom corner either side of an overhit cross which deceived David Marshall on it’s way into the net.
“He’s absolutely hit the ground running after this coronavirus break, but also added extra aspects to his game in terms of arriving into the box – that’s an area we’ve been working a lot on,” Frank said after the match.
“I also need to praise him for his work ethic, I thought he worked extremely hard.”

FootMercato claimed in June that Benrahma has played his way onto the radar of countless top-flight clubs, including West Ham, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Leicester and Arsenal.
And if he can eliminate the impact of his idol, a certain Riyad Mahrez, in the Premier League, then Benrahma will be worth every penny of his sizeable price-tag.
