Atletico Madrid’s Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey spoke about his future in an interview with the BBC regarding the upcoming African Cup of Nations.

Partey has attracted interest from Premier League clubs Arsenal and Manchester United according to The Sun and his agent has revealed to Passione that he has a clause in his contract that makes him available for £43.5 million in the summer.

Partey has made quite a name for himself in the La Liga over the last two seasons and he has become an integral part of Diego Simeone’s side. Speaking to the BBC, Partey refused to fuel the speculation but admitted that he is happy as long as he keeps playing football.

He said: “It’s hard for me to talk about transfers because the next minute it will be like ‘Thomas is trying to leave’ but for me playing football is what makes me happy.

“I don’t know what the future holds for me but as long as I play and they are happy with me here then there is no need flirting with others.”

Partey expressed his gratitude to Atleti for giving him a chance and vowed to never force a move away from them in search of fame or money. However, the midfielder admitted that a time will come when he has to move on and he will do so at that point.

“The club has been like a second home to me and everything I am now it’s partly because they took a chance on me.

“I know how our work is, today you are here and tomorrow you are gone but I feel naturally when it’s time to move I wouldn’t have to force it because it will be so clear that my time here is up.”

Partey would be a fantastic addition to any side in world football and a £43.5 million release clause for someone of his quality is a massive bargain in today’s inflated transfer market.
