Reported Arsenal and Liverpool target Kalidou Koulibaly has suggested that he could leave Napoli at the end of the season, as quoted on Goal.com.

The Sun reported earlier this month that Arsenal are interested in signing Koulibaly from Napoli in the summer transfer window.

The report in the British tabloid claimed that the Gunners have already made contact regarding a transfer for the Senegal international central defender, who is valued at £80 million by his club.

Tutto Napoli reported this month that Liverpool are ready to pay €70 million (£63.79 million) – £80 million (£72.90 million) to Napoli to sign the former Metz and Genk star.

Koulibaly has said that although he is 100% focused on Napoli on the pitch at the moment, he cannot make promises that he will be at the club beyond the summer.

Goal.com quotes Koulibaly as saying: “I would love to stay at Napoli for life, but I can’t make promises.

“I am part of the project and at the end of the season I will speak to the directors. Right now, my mind is 100% on the pitch.”

Unlikely Arsenal move

While Koulibaly would make Arsenal very strong at the back, it is hard to see him make a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

With no Champions League football next season, the Gunners may not be able to attract a player of the 29-year-old’s quality and stature.

Good signing for Liverpool?

Koulibaly has not had a great season this campaign, but the 29-year-old is one of the best centre-backs in the world.

If the Senegalese is partnered with Virgil van Dijk at the back next season and beyond, then it would make Liverpool an even better team defensively.
