Marc Roca’s £35 million price-tag has been halved after Espanyol were relegated from La Liga, Tuttomercatoweb reports of the Everton and Arsenal-linked midfielder.

The Spain U21 international must know exactly how Declan Rice is feeling.

Like West Ham’s homegrown hero, there is only so much one man can do.

And despite some seriously impressive individual performances at the base of midfield, Roca’s teammates have contrived to let him down time and time again this season.

Just to rub salt into the wounds, Espanyol were relegated from the Spanish top flight for the first time since 1993 on Wednesday – on Roca’s 100’s league appearance for the Catalan giants, no less.

Did we mention their fate was sealed by a 1-0 defeat to local rivals Barcelona? Insult, meet injury.

At least Roca, a deep-lying play-maker in the Sergio Busquets mould, will be offered the chance to escape from a sinking ship.

Amid continued links with Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and AC Milan, Sport claimed earlier this month that he has an offer on the table from an Arsenal side crying out for a midfielder of his class and intelligence.

Everton have also been linked, via La Razon in March.

And any hopes Espanyol had of selling their prized asset for £35 million has gone up in smoke.

TMW suggests that, with their demotion now confirmed, The Parakeets will be forced to listen to offers of around £18 million now.
