Everton target Gaetano Castrovilli has all-but ruled out a summer move to Goodison Park by admitting that he hopes to win a trophy at Fiorentina before leaving the Serie A outfit, speaking in quotes translated by TMW.

Very rarely, you find a footballer who appears to play the game with the joys of spring in every step.

Castrovilli was in the midst of an exceptional breakthrough season before the campaign was put on ice and, with every inch-perfect through-ball and gorgeous backheel, this diminutive little schemer was loving every single second.

And given that Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti tends to do his best work alongside footballers who put the ‘beautiful’ in the beautiful game, it’s no surprise that one of Italy’s most exciting talents was on his radar.

Calciomercato report that Ancelotti had raised an expressive eyebrow when watching Castrovilli in full flow, with the former Napoli and AC Milan boss planning to raid one of his old Serie A rivals.

But the 23-year-old is not going anywhere just yet. He has his sights firmly set on ending Fiorentina’s 20-year trophy drought and repaying the faith of Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso.

“I know how much he suffers when things are not going well, that’s why we would like to give him some satisfaction as soon as possible. Maybe (a trophy) which can be put on the bulletin board,” Castrovilli tells Brivio Sportivo magazine.

The Italy international was also at pains to point out that he dreams of following in the footsteps of Viola legend Roberto Baggio by being handed the iconic ‘number ten’ shirt.

While the prospect of working under Ancelotti must be tempting, it seems that Castrovilli has plenty of unfinished business to take care of in Florence.
