Lyon forward Bertrand Traore has his heart set on a move away from the Ligue 1 giants this summer, with Newcastle United opening the door to a Premier League return, according to BuzzSports.

While Jose Mourinho certainly cannot match the Jurgen Klopps and the Pep Guardiolas of the world when it comes to putting his faith in youth, it speaks volumes about the talent and potential of this skilful forward that the former Chelsea boss had no qualms dunking him in at the deep end at Stamford Bridge.

Traore was handed his debut by Mourinho at Stamford Bridge five years ago. And, after honing his talents abroad in Holland and France, a second spell in England appears to be on the cards for the 24-year-old Burkino Faso international.

It is not Mourinho’s Tottenham but Steve Bruce’s Newcastle who are casting admiring glances at the Lyon number ten, according to FootMercato.

Les Gones fans are used to seeing their star players depart on an almost annual basis and, with Lyon missing out on a place in Europe for the first time since 1997, Traore looks all but certain to follow in the footsteps of Alexandre Lacazette, Samuel Umtiti, Karim Benzema and Tanguy Ndombele.

BuzzSport claims that Traore, a £9 million signing from Ajax, has decided that his future lies elsewhere with a number of offers in his hands. This might have something to do with the fact that, starting just 14 Ligue 1 games in 2019/20, the former Chelsea starlet has been far from a regular under Rudi Garcia at Stade OL.
