According to a report from the Mirror, Arsenal have identified Napoli ace Piotr Zielinski as one of their primary summer transfer targets, and are willing to meet his £57 million release clause.
The Poland international has really impressed for Napoli this season, chalking up seven goals and three assists in 45 appearances in all competitions thus far, but it is his overall influence on his team that has been the key feature of his play.
His aggressive approach to the game and tenacity in the tackle makes him ideally suited to the Premier League.
Zielinski possesses all of the attributes that the Gunners currently desperately lack in the middle of the park, and he would be the ideal central midfield partner for Aaron Ramsey.
The 23-year-old’s arrival at the Emirates would create more space and freedom for the Welshman to affect the game in forward areas, and the duo would surely be one of the most perfectly balanced midfield pairings in the Premier League.
The Mirror claim that Arsenal are willing to meet Zielinski’s £57 million release clause this summer, regardless of who they appoint as their new manager.
Whilst that seems like a lot of money at first glance, it actually represents decent value in today’s market, and having the Poland international dove-tailing with the Welshman next season really could take the Gunners to a whole new level entirely.
