Premier League outfit Arsenal reportedly want to reunite Unai Emery with Christopher Nkunku – if Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain will sell.

Coach of PSG Unai Emery talks to Christopher Nkunku of PSG during the French League Cup (Coupe de la Ligue) match between Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Lille OSC at Parc des Princes...

Christopher Nkunku is refusing to sign a new long-term contract with Paris Saint-Germain as Arsenal continue their attempts to lure the Frenchman to North London, as reported by Le Parisien.

Nkunku made his name under Unai Emery at the Parc des Princes last season and has been heavily tipped to reunite with his former boss at The Emirates.

The Sun claims that Arsenal failed to sign the 21-year-old in January as PSG were demanding a substantial loan fee but The Gunners are expected to renew their interest in the summer. Paris Team reported in March that they were prepared to pay £30 million to bring Nkunku to England.

And Arsenal’s hopes have been boosted substantially by claims from Le Parisien stating that Nkunku has followed in the footsteps of Adrien Rabiot by turning down the chance to extend his stay with the reigning Ligue 1 champions.

His current deal expires in 2020, meaning PSG may be forced to sell this summer, and it seems the youngster is unhappy with his lack of game time, having started just 12 league matches all season.

Le Parisien points out that Nkunku’s relationship with coach Thomas Tuchel has broken down while his agent, Jose-Karl Pierre-Fanfan, opened up about the midfielder’s frustrations recently.

“The playing time is insufficient. Christopher is open to a departure.”
