According to a report from the Daily Mail, West Brom have had a £2.9 million bid for Brentford ace Romaine Sawyers accepted.

And if the 27-year-old does complete his move to the Hawthorns, he could prove to be a real bargain signing for the Baggies.

West Brom, now under the guidance of Slaven Bilic, will be expecting to gain promotion back to the Premier League this season, and Sawyers might just have a key role to play for the Black Country outfit.

Pace

Sawyers is incredibly quick, and he would provide West Brom with an entirely different threat. He is most comfortable when operating in the number 10 position, but he has the ability and drive to make runs in behind the opposition’s defence, and this would undoubtedly help the Baggies improve upon the potency of their attacking play.

Creativity and guile

The 27-year-old has a keen eye for a killer pass, and has the ability to break down tight and stubborn defences.

He racked up seven assists in the Championship last season, and if surrounded by better players at West Brom, he will surely improve upon those numbers further still.

Championship know-how

Sawyers is vastly experienced in playing in playing in England’s second tier, having spent three years with Brentford.

And this could be crucial to the Baggies as they try and push for promotion this season.

And in today’s day and age, £2.9 million for a player with Sawyers’ proven quality must be considered as excellent value for money.

He could turn out to be a signing of real significance for West Brom as far as their bid for promotion goes.
