Adrien Rabiot has played down a potential January move to Everton, telling Telefoot he plans to celebrate Serie A and Champions League success at Juventus this season.

Only one year ago, the dominant force of Italian football looked to have aced the transfer window once again.

Masters of the free signing, a Juventus side that previously snapped up Dani Alves, Paul Pogba, Sami Khedira and even current head coach Andrea Pirlo without spending a penny on transfer fees welcomed two more high-profile free agents to Turin in 2019.

12 months on, however, Juve fans have yet to see the best of either Aaron Ramsey or Adrien Rabiot, with the latter coming in for some severe criticism after a series of lacklustre displays.

And, after picking up the most needless of red cards in the recent 2-2 draw with Roma, Calciomercato believes Rabiot’s future is more uncertain than ever.

An Everton side that has already signed James Rodriguez and Allan this year are interested in adding Rabiot to a growing array of Carlo Ancelotti darlings at Goodison Park.

But the £25 million-rated Frenchman doesn’t sound like a man counting down the days until January.

“Our goal is to bring home the tenth consecutive Scudetto. But obviously at European level, winning this Champions League would be nice,” says the £120,000-a-week midfielder, while expressing his admiration for Juve team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo.

“He is a source of inspiration. What he does at 35 is very strong. In terms of work rate, he’s the best.”

With Ancelotti preferring a three-man midfield at Everton, with two box-to-box number eights flanking the defensively minded Allan, Rabiot looks tailor-made for the Toffees’ tactical system.

But while Everton are in the midst of their best start to a season since the 19th century, leaving Juventus for the blue half of Merseyside would still feel like a step backwards.
