Premier League giants Manchester United reportedly wanted to bring William Saliba to Old Trafford from Ligue 1 outfit St Etienne.

William Saliba has ruled out an imminent move to Manchester United and instead signed a contract extension with St Etienne, as reported by Get Football News France.
Le10 Sport claimed in March that Manchester United were preparing a formal approach for the latest talented young centre-back to emerge in French football as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer embarks on a substantial summer overhaul.
Teenager Saliba has made 15 appearances in a breakthrough season for Les Verts, his speed and expert positioning drawing comparisons with Real Madrid star and World Cup winner Raphael Varane.
And Le10 Sport added that St Etienne could cash in for a fee of £25 million, though they wanted United to loan him back to the Stade Geoffrey Guichard until the end of the 2019/20 season.
Instead, however, Saliba is now expected to wear the famous green shirt for the foreseeable future.

The France U20 international has spurned the chance to move to Old Trafford this summer by inking a two-year contract extension with St Etienne and he seems in no rush to leave the club where he honed his trade.
“I am very happy to extend my adventure with St Étienne, the club where I came up from as a youngster,” Saliba said.
“I want to stay concentrated, with my head on my shoulders, and to continue to work. I have still not done anything and I still have it all to prove. The end of the season will be exciting to live through and I cannot wait to participate in it.”
