Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon is giving away little on his future. But the reported £18 million Everton target thinks he deserves his place in the gossip columns, while speaking to Marca.
If there was one man who came out of Santiago Solari’s forgettable spell in charge of Los Blancos with his reputation enhanced, it is a Madrid-born youngster who few outside the Spanish capital had even heard of this time two years ago.
Perhaps the best compliment that can be paid to Reguilon is that he kept Bernabeu legend Marcelo out of the starting XI for a spell during the 2018/19 season.
And after building on that superb breakthrough season during a stellar loan spell at Sevilla, Real Madrid now face a challenge holding onto a player who rose steadily through the ranks after joining as a precocious eight-year old in 2005.
Sky claimed on Friday that Everton made an £18 million offer while Jose Mourinho wants Tottenham to raid his old employers (ESPN).
“If the year at Sevilla had not been good, this (speculation) would not happen,” says Reguilon, arguably the best left-back in the whole of La Liga last season – and we include Marcelo, Jordi Alba and Ferland Mendy in that.
“These teams would not ring (if my form was poor).

“I do not look at those possibilities now. I’m sorry if it sounds like a cliché. Until I finish the whole season, I will not talk about my future.
“I am 100% focused on the Roma game (in the Europa League). Is it possible that I’ll stay one more year in Seville? Yes.”
A typically modern full-back, Reguilon is at his best when making the kind of lung-busting attacking bursts which have come to typify a Sevilla side heavily reliant on quality wing play.
Reguilon produced two goals and four assists in 2019/20; although a record of ten yellow cards highlights an aggressive, competitive streak honed in the bowels of the Bernabeu.
