Milot Rashica has ‘reached an agreement’ with his next club, Werder Bremen’s sporting director Frank Baumann has told Sky after Wolves and Aston Villa made offers for the Bundesliga winger.
After saving one of Germany’s proudest clubs from relegation with a performance that even Lionel Messi would have been proud of on the final day of the 2019/20 season, this jet-powered Kosovan is packing his bags and saying his goodbyes.
Where Rashica ends up, however, is anyone’s guess.
Kicker reported in July that Midland neighbours Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers had made offers for the £18 million-rated speed-machine.
Villa have been tracking Rashica since January and, after securing survival themselves on the final day, they are now in a position to spend heavily on a winger who produced 11 goals and eight assists last season.
“It is true that Milot can imagine changing clubs. He had already reached an agreement with a club because he wanted to go there,” former Germany international Baumann says, while refusing to identify the mystery suitors.
Rashica was expected to become one of the first signings of the Ralf Rangnick era at AC Milan but, in a sudden turn of events, the Rossoneri instead opted to hand current coach Stefano Pioli a new contract after a sudden upturn in form.
According to Kicker, Rashica has seen a move to the San Siro fall through as a result.
RB Leipzig’s interest is also well established but, as of yet, Rangnick’s former employers have refused to meet Werder’s £18 million asking price.
