Jens Cajuste was left out of the Midtjylland squad again on Saturday with the reported Leeds United, Wolves and Newcastle target potentially heading for the Premier League, as reported by TipsBladet.
With just a month remaining in the transfer window, the Danish giants are standing firm as two of their star players weigh up whether to stay or whether to go.
Cajuste has not played a single minute of football since the 2021/22 campaign got underway, missing the 1-1 Champions League qualification draw with Celtic in midweek.
The Sweden international was conspicuous by his absence once more as Midtjylland beat AaB 1-0 away from home on Saturday too.
And the same can be said of Sory Kaba, the 6ft 3ins striker on the radar of Watford, Middlesbrough and Swansea City.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for two of the biggest talents in the Superliga, though the smart money is on Cajuste joining a Premier League club before the end of August.
Is Jens Cajuste too expensive for Newcastle United?
Expressen reported last week that Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds and Bruno Lage’s Wolves are planning bids for the Gothenberg-born 21-year-old.
As are a Crystal Palace side under pressure to pack out Patrick Vieira’s paper-thin squad before the new season gets underway. Stylistically speaking, Cajuste has a few things in common with a young Vieira.

And the fact that he was nowhere to be seen as Midtjylland triumphed in Aalborg will not have gone unnoticed in England.
Newcastle are also understood to be interested, with Steve Bruce desperate to bring in a player capable of snapping into tackles one second before turning defence into attack the next. Cajuste picked up ten yellow cards last season but is renowned for his ability to dribble, as well as destroy.
But according to the Northern Echo, Cajuste’s £12 million price-tag may be a bit rich for a Newcastle side who have not spent a single penny on new signings this summer.
