Colin Odutayo has had a trial at Newcastle United after being released by Aston Villa earlier in the summer, according to the Chronicle.
The Midland giants are planning for a bright future in claret and blue, with Mark Harrison hired to make Bodymoor Heath something like English football’s equivalent of La Masia.
Villa are now scouring the market for some of the best young talent in the game, paying Barcelona £3 million for 16-year-old sensation Louie Barry before beating Bayern Munich to Exeter City’s Ben Chrisene.
But one player who seemingly didn’t make the grade is now under consideration from a direct Premier League rival.
The Chronicle reports that Odutayo, a 19-year-old Dutch winger, featured for Newcastle’s U23 side during their 1-1 draw with Hartlepool United earlier this week.

The teenager is also set to undergo a trial period at Sheffield Wednesday; the Championship club who have also shown an interest in former West Brom forward Korede Adedoyin.
Odutayo moved to Villa Park in 2017 from a Genk side who are credited with developing Kevin de Bruyne, Thibaut Courtous, Timothy Castagne, Dennis Praet and Christian Benteke.
He also teamed up with Base Soccer Group, an agency that also represents Dele Alli, James Maddison and ex-Newcastle loanee Danny Rose (Transfermarkt).
