Andy Yiadom rejects new contract at Barnsley, who are lining up Accrington’s Matty Pearson as a replacement for the Huddersfield and Swansea target.
Andy Yiadom has rejected a new contract at Barnsley which would have made the defender one of the highest paid players at the club, his manager Paul Heckingbottom has revealed.
Andy Yiadom of Barnsley runs with the ball under pressure from Jiri Skalak of Brighton & Hove Albion.
“He has rejected a new deal at the club. He wants to see out his contract and see what things are there for him,” Heckingbottom told the Yorkshire Evening Post.
“One thing is for sure, we will have a hungry player on our hands who is trying to impress everybody to earn the best possible contract where he can, whether it is here or elsewhere.
“It was a very good contract offer by the club, which would have put up there with the highest paid players.”
Yiadom has now entered the final year of the two-year contract he signed at Oakwell when he made the free transfer from Barnet in the summer of 2016.
It seems the Tykes are resigned to losing the 25-year-old as well, as they line up a move for Accrington Stanley’s Matty Pearson as his replacement.

Huddersfield face competition for Yiadom’s signature, however, with both Reading and Swansea City being strongly linked with the right-back.
The Ghana international caught the eyes of Premier League suitors with his impressive performances last season, playing 33 times in all competitions and providing three assists.
