Report: Yannick Bolasie travels for Middlesbrough medical ahead of Everton exit

Everton winger Yannick Bolasie is reportedly nearing a move to Middlesbrough.

According to The Guardian, Everton winger Yannick Bolasie is set to undergo a medical with Middlesbrough ahead of a move to the Riverside Stadium.

Having been beaten in the semi-finals of last season’s Championship play-offs, Boro are aiming to go one better this term, and backed manager Tony Pulis with the signings of Aden Flint and Paddy McNair.

However, Boro sold Ben Gibson, Adama Traore and Patrick Bamford late in the transfer window, are now relying on the loan market to boost the squad for a promotion push.

Jordan Hugill is in to strengthen the attack, but another winger is certainly needed to replace last season’s star man Traore following his big-money move to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Now, The Guardian report that Everton winger Yannick Bolasie as well as midfielder Muhamed Besic are both set to undergo medicals with Boro having travelled to the North East today.

Bolasie will therefore reunite with his former Crystal Palace boss Pulis, whilst Besic will be heading back to the Riverside Stadium having spent the second half of last season on loan with Boro.

Bolasie, 29, was a big-money signing for Everton from then-director of football Steve Walsh in 2016, but a major knee injury in in December ruled him out for more than a year.

The DR Congo star has struggled to get back into the Everton side regularly since his comeback, and Marco Silva has decided the the winger – signed for a huge £30million (Sky Sports) – can leave, with a Boro move imminent.
