Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are now reportedly facing competition for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso from Barcelona.
On May 15, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on Twitter that Aston Villa are interested in signing Giovani Lo Celso from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.
Romano claimed that Villa have “concrete interest” in the Argentina international, adding that the Spurs midfielder himself was keen on a move to Villa.
Villa manager Unai Emery is personally pushing for the signing of the 27-year-old attacking midfielder, according to the reporter.

And now Barcelona are being linked with the £100,000-a-week (SalarySport) star.
Marca have reported that Barcelona head coach Xavi likes Lo Celso.
The report in the Spanish publication has claimed that Barcelona have Lo Celso on their radar as a potential alternative to Ilkay Gundogan, who is out of contract at treble winners Manchester City this summer and is available on a free transfer.
Could Aston Villa sign Giovani Lo Celso from Tottenham Hotspur ahead of Barcelona?
In our opinion, Aston Villa could struggle to sign Giovani Lo Celso from Tottenham Hotspur if Barcelona get serious about the Argentina international attacking midfielder.
Barcelona are one of the biggest clubs in the world and are a global brand.
The chance to move to the La Liga champions and compete for the UEFA Champions League could be too tempting for Lo Celso.
