According to Mundo Deportivo, Xavi now wants to bring Ryan Gravenberch to Barcelona, with Tottenham and Liverpool also interested.

What’s the story?

Well, things just got a bit more difficult for Tottenham and Liverpool in the race to bring Gravenberch to the Premier League.

Mundo Deportivo believe Barcelona tried to sign the Netherlands international when he was just 15, and they still admire him to this day.

It is also said that Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are keen to sign the 19-year-old, who Barcelona view as a long-term replacement for Sergio Busquets.

Evidently, Antonio Conte and Jürgen Klopp must somehow fend off Europe’s elite to sign the Dutch wonderkid, who is valued at £26m.

It was Soccer News who revealed that the Reds are interested in signing Gravenberch, whereas Calciomercato claimed that Spurs are keen.

So far this season, the Ajax No.8 has scored one goal, while also providing four assists in 30 appearances.

As you may have heard, Barcelona are struggling financially.

Their demise under Josep Maria Bartomeu led to the departure of Lionel Messi, and they allegedly couldn’t even register the signing of Ferran Torres in January until cuts were made or sales were sanctioned.

Gravenberch is one of the best talents in Europe, and certainly won’t leave Amsterdam on the cheap, which could be an issue for Xavi’s hopes of signing him.

In our view, Tottenham and Liverpool – with their Premier League TV money riches – are in the driving seat to sign the Ajax Academy graduate.

Having said that, they must be quick.

If Barcelona make one big sale, they will presumably be able to make a move for Gravenberch, so Spurs and the Reds mustn’t hesitate if they truly want to sign the precocious Dutchman.
