According to SPORT, Xavi wants Barcelona to sign Kingsley Coman as he gets set to replace Ronald Koeman, a player said to be a target for Liverpool.
What’s the story?
Well, it was French outlet le10sport who claimed that Liverpool are interested in signing Coman, who is refusing to pen a new contract.
The 25-year-old’s contract expires in June 2023, and BILD’s Christian Falk believes Bayern Munich want £80m for the forward.
Should he continue to stall over a new contract, a sale is likely in 2022.
However, Jürgen Klopp now faces competition from Xavi, before the Spaniard has even been officially appointed as Koeman’s replacement.
SPORT believe Xavi will take over at the Camp Nou in the next few days, and is a lover of classic wingers – which is exactly what Coman is.
Xavi is also eyeing former Liverpool man Raheem Sterling.
Should Liverpool spend big on Kingsley Coman to beat Xavi and Barcelona?

In our view, Liverpool should avoid spending a huge amount of money on the 34-cap France international.
The Bayern Munich No.11 is a superb player, although his injury record is a little bit concerning.
As we saw when Liverpool pulled the plug on a deal for Nabil Fekir, Klopp and Michael Edwards don’t like to take chances on injury prone players.

As Transfermarkt shows, Coman has missed 89 games across his career – the fact his injury history has three pages says it all.
As he told TF1, the former Juventus man said he would retire if he suffered another serious injury, following two operations.
In that respect, there are better ways for Liverpool to spend their millions.
