Aston Villa are fighting to save the move for Douglas Luiz.

According to the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa boss Dean Smith has personally put forward a case that Douglas Luiz will be important for the club in an attempt to obtain a work permit.
Villa landed yet another signing this morning, confirming that Egyptian international winger Trezeguet has arrived from Turkish outfit Kasimpasa.
Villa have taken their summer spending to more than £100million, but they aren’t done yet – far from it in fact, with another midfielder wanted.
Manchester City’s Douglas Luiz has been a target for a couple of weeks now, but the deal has gone a little quiet in recent days.
It’s now believed that a work permit – which City have struggled to obtain for Luiz so far – is a problem, and Villa boss Smith has personally attempted to promise the authorities that Luiz will be important at Villa Park.
The move is ultimately expected to go through, but Villa and Smith have been fighting to save it from collapse over these work permit issues.

The 21-year-old joined City from Vasca da Gama in 2017, but has spent the last two seasons out on loan at Girona having been unable to play in the Premier League.
Villa are running into similar problems, but with Smith’s promises put forward, he will hope to get Luiz on board soon, handing him another exciting midfielder alongside Conor Hourihane, John McGinn and Jack Grealish.
