According to La Razón, Wolves will try to sign Gonçalo Guedes from Valencia this summer, with the Spaniards in need of cash.

The Spanish news outlet claim that Valencia need to raise €26 million (£22.6 million) this summer, and Guedes could provide nearly all of that sum for them.

Guedes cost the Spanish outfit £36 million when they signed him from Paris Saint-Germain in 2018.

However, the 24-year-old – once called the new Cristiano Ronaldo by the Daily Mail – hasn’t quite lived up to the billing.

Guedes only has four goals and five assists in 26 appearances this season.

Despite this, La Razón state that Nuno Espirito Santo believes he can get the best out of his fellow countryman, and is very attentive to his situation.

Additionally, Jorge Mendes – who has guided many footballers to Molineux in recent years – represents Guedes.

As a result, La Razón say Mendes could help facilitate the deal.

He is also Nuno’s agent.

In our view, this move would make a lot of sense for Wolves.

Wolves could get a good deal with Valencia in need of cash, while Guedes was once seen as a potential star of the future.

He’s only just 24, so that potential could still be fulfilled in the Midlands.
