The Mail+ claim that Wolves will pay a fee of £5.25million to sign West Ham defender Craig Dawson on deadline day. The veteran defender looks set to leave on Thursday, after the Hammers brought in two new central defenders.
Dawson, 32, is out of contract at the end of the season with West Ham. Despite playing 50 times in all competitions last season, the centre-back has fallen down the pecking order. The Hammers have signed Thilo Kehrer and Nayef Aguerd.
It sees Wolves bring in a second central defender this summer, after signing Nathan Collins from Burnley. Having lost Conor Coady to Everton on loan, Dawson is likely to compete with Collins and Max Kilman at the back for Bruno Lage.
Aston Villa have also been linked with a move, as they look to replace the injured Diego Carlos. But it looks as if Dawson will return to the Midlands with Wolves – after a previous spell with West Brom. Wolves will pay £5.25million.

It is a real bargain for Wolves. They are getting a defender that has shown over the last couple of seasons that he is growing with age. A player that not only gives superb aerial presence in both boxes, but a calmness at the back.
Kilman and Collins are both at the beginning of their Premier League careers. Having an older head, with Willy Boly set to go to Nottingham Forest and Coady now at Everton, is key for both Kilman and Collins is absolutely pivotal.
It sees Wolves get a defender for a bargain fee that is more than capable of shining for Wolves for the next two or three years. A real steal for Lage’s side, who will be defensively strengthened with Dawson in the squad.
