According to the Daily Star, Wolverhampton Wanderers once again want to sign Manchester City defender Oleksandar Zinchenko.

It’s claimed that Zinchenko rejected a £19million move to Wolves in 2019, in order to try and fight for his place at the Etihad Stadium.

However, the 23-year-old has played just 12 minutes of Premier League action this season, and is well down Pep Guardiola’s pecking order.

Wolves are now renewing their interest in Zinchenko, with Nuno Espirito Santo believed to be a huge fan of his technical ability.

A move does seem a surprise though; Wolves brought in a couple of left backs over the summer as Marcal and Rayan Ait-Nouri arrived.

Jonny will be back from injury in early 2021 too, so this may point to Nuno seeing Zinchenko as a midfielder or winger rather than a left back.

That’s where Zinchenko tends to play for Ukraine, and it could be appealing to him as Wolves prepare to try their luck once again.

Zinchenko clearly has talent, and Guardiola called him ‘incredible’ just last year, but he needs playing time at this stage in his career – and Wolves may be willing to offer him that.
