According to Record, Everton and Wolves are interested in signing João Palhinha, who Leicester are also keen to bring to England.
The Portuguese news outlet even claims that Everton have already made contact with Sporting Lisbon over the 25-year-old’s availability.
Record say that Sporting Lisbon will not negotiate a deal worth less than €40 million (£34.6 million).
The Portuguese giants are aware of the Premier League interest in their No.6, and are planning to react.
Record add that Sporting Lisbon are working on a new contract for the 3-cap Portugal international as a reward for his fine season.
What has been said about Palhinha?
You might not know much about the defensive midfielder, seeing as he plies his trade in a division outside of Europe’s top five leagues.
However, a familiar face for Premier League fans in Nani has spoken about what Palhinha can bring to the table.
The former Manchester United winger described his fellow countryman as an ‘aggressive’ player who provides ‘security’ in midfield.
In our view, Everton don’t really need Palhinha, especially for the figures being mentioned.
Carlo Ancelotti has Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure to provide a bit of steel to his midfield, so there’s no need for another option there.
In the case of Wolves, perhaps Palhinha would be better placed at Molineux, where there are already a vast amount of Portuguese players.
