Wolverhampton Wanderers are the latest Premier League club to be linked with Schalke’s Mr Versatile Weston McKennie ahead of the summer transfer window, according to CBS Sports.

If this most adaptable of footballers can adapt to life on English shores like his fellow American sensation, a certain Chelsea winger who is making everyone forget about Eden something or other, then McKennie will be worth every penny of his £20 million price-tag.

At the age of 21, the Texan-born dynamo is already one of the most complete footballers in the Bundesliga.

Whether in central midfield, at centre-half or on the right-hand side, McKennie frequently stands out in a Schalke side whose form in the second half of 2019/20 makes Bournemouth look like Champions League contenders.

While sporting director Jochen Schneider expects the 19-time international to stay at the Veltins Arena, via Sport1, who could blame McKennie for turning his back on Germany’s perennial underachievers.

Wolves have been added to a growing list of suitors, with CBS claiming that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will battle Liverpool, Everton and Newcastle United for his signature.

“(McKennie) is an outstanding talent,” Schalke boss David Wagner told Fox recently, via the Bundesliga website.

“In the No.6 or No.8 position he has the mentality, a real working mentality that you need. And he’s brave on the ball as well.”

With Leander Dendoncker heavily linked with a move away from Molineux this summer, this man for all seasons and all positions looks like an ideal replacement.
