Wolverhampton Wanderers have joined the likes of Everton and Liverpool in the race to sign Jack Wilshere on a free transfer this summer.

According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Wolves have become the latest side to join the race to sign Jack Wilshere on a free transfer from Arsenal at the end of the season.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men will be playing Premier League football next term and could still finish this campaign with more than 100 points in the Championship with five still to get with nine available to the runaway leaders.

Wolves had little problem displaying their ambition in the second tier when it came to player signings, with Ruben Neves arguably the most exciting acquisition the league has ever seen. And the Mirror suggests that they are ready to try and upset the apple cart once again.

The Mirror reports that it is looking increasingly unlikely that Wilshere will stay at Arsenal – with the Gunners offering to lower his wages from £110,000-a-week to £90,000-a-week – and has an offer on the table from Everton. However, Wolves have joined the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, Juventus and AC Milan in the running.

Wilshere a statement signing Wolves fans don’t want?

It must be mentioned that Wolves fans have already been discussing the possibility of signing Wilshere in the summer as the Championship leaders have emerged as contenders to sign the England international with some bookmakers.

Interestingly, despite the 26-year-old arguably enjoying his best season in terms of form and fitness for a while now, there were plenty of fans who wanted the club to avoid trying to bring the midfielder to Molineux during the coming window.

But while some supporters may not want Wilshere, there can be no doubt that winning the race to land his signature would be the latest huge statement from the Wolves board ahead of the club’s top flight return.
