According to The Express, Wolverhampton Wanderers now plan to make a new offer to Arsenal for Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
It’s claimed that Wolves have already offered £15million to sign Maitland-Niles, but Arsenal rejected their bid.
Wolves now intend to return with a new offer closer to Arsenal’s £25million asking price – and Tottenham Hotspur are involved.
The report notes that Wolves have agreed to sell Matt Doherty to Spurs in order to raise funds for Maitland-Niles, and that imminent deal now helps them.
Mikel Arteta wants Maitland-Niles to stay at Arsenal, but knows he needs to offload players to raise funds – and that means Maitland-Niles could go.
The 23-year-old has now been called up to the England squad by Gareth Southgate, showing just what a talent the Gunners have on their hands.

Maitland-Niles is an Arsenal youth product who has now carved out a first-team role as a right wing back or midfielder, and he started in Saturday’s Community Shield clash with Liverpool.
Maitland-Niles could now leave Arsenal, with Wolves ready to turn Tottenham’s money into a new bid for Doherty’s potential replacement.
