According to The Sunday Mirror (28/06, p66), Wolverhampton Wanderers plan to step up their interest in signing Porto playmaker Otavio.

It’s claimed that Otavio is valued at around £15million by Porto. Otavio has just one year left on his deal, with Porto seemingly prepared to sell.

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo is believed to be a big fan of Otavio, having worked with him during their time together at Porto.

Otavio, 25, joined Porto back in 2014, and Nuno coached him during the 2016-17 season. The Brazilian hit three goals and 10 assists in that season.

This term, Otavio has hit one goal and 10 assists, continuing to show his creative ability in the Porto side – and keeping Nuno interested.

His ability to play as a number 10 or on either flank will be appealing, especially given how Nuno rotates his front line.

Yet having brought in Portuguese talent Daniel Podence in January, adding Otavio too would be something of a surprise, as Podence hasn’t really had much of a chance either.

Maybe Nuno sees £15million as a deal too good to turn down for a player he rates highly, and he may just be on a list of targets in case Adama Traore moves on.
